Vascular Screening…it’s a Life Decision.

While stroke is the third leading killer in the United States, fewer than 4% of Americans polled were able to name a single warning sign. Many people assume that a stroke just “happens” and this misconception results in thousands of unnecessary deaths and debilitations each and every year.

Everyone has some risk for stroke but everyone also has the opportunity to prevent it through lifestyle choices and pre-screening. While more than half of all stroke victims show no external signs that a stroke is imminent, this doesn’t mean that the warning signs for stroke weren’t present for months or even years internally.

Hudson Valley Ultrasound is committed to helping people get a real picture of their health by offering a series of vascular pre-screening options. Vascular pre-screening often takes only a few minutes to complete yet it can literally add years to your life if abnormal vascular conditions are detected and treated.

The vascular scans offered at Hudson Valley Ultrasound are performed by a certified sonographer and read by radiologists to help assess the level of risk. As a comprehensive vascular screening facility, Hudson Valley Ultrasound provides carotid artery ultrasounds to determine if there is any blockage; abdominal aortic ultrasounds to assess aneurysm risks and also lower extremity arterial screening to assess peripheral vascular disease.

Vascular screening is faster and easier than most people assume, (about 30 minutes) and it’s also completely non-invasive. The few minutes it takes to do the procedure is well worth the peace of mind, and if pre-screening results in advanced notice that an elevated risk is present, then it could very well save your life.

Types of Vascular Disease

  • Carotid Artery disease - build up of plaque caused by atherosclerosis which when severe can cause stroke.
  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm - weakening of the aortic wall causing a dilation of the vessel. Aneurysm can grow and eventually rupture. A ruptured AAA is the 10th leading cause of death in men over 55.
  • Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) - blockage in the circulation to the legs due to atherosclerosis. Can be an indicator of stroke and heart attack risk.

Vascular Screening Pricing
